The Boston Red Sox’s rotation is set for a major improvement this week with the return of an All-Star hurler.

Boston’s rotation has been dealing with injuries throughout this entire season, but is looking more complete with the return of Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito. The Red Sox will be getting another pitcher back from injury soon, as Walker Buehler is set to make his return to the mound, following some shoulder soreness, according to MassLive.com’s Christopher Smith.

“Red Sox righty Walker Buehler is on track to rejoin the starting rotation Tuesday against the Mets,” Smith said. “The 30-year-old righty has been on the 15-day injured list since May 2 (retroactive to April 29) with right shoulder bursitis. He threw three innings (62 pitches) in a live batting practice at Fenway Park on Thursday.

“Buehler said he should be able to throw approximately 85-90 pitches Tuesday. He said he never thought his injury was anything serious and it might not have required an IL stint if it happened late in the season.”

Buehler has only made six starts for the Red Sox so far this season and is 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA and 29 strikeouts. The 30-year-old hurler’s return couldn’t have come sooner as Boston lost another pitcher to injury recently, with Tanner Houck being placed on the 15-day Injured List.

After a couple of shaky starts at the beginning of the season, Buehler settled in, allowing only seven runs across his last four starts before his injury. The two-time All-Star will be making his return to the mound Tuesday against the New York Mets.
