The S&P 500 on Friday notched its longest streak of closing in the positive column in more than 20 years, after it rose 1.47% at the close of business and marked its ninth consecutive day of gains.

The record comes after China and the U.S. signaled a willingness to discuss tariffs, and the Trump administration released a jobs report that exceeded expectations.

Other major indices closed with gains, including the Dow Industrial Average, which rose 1.39% on Friday. The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.51%, according to CNN

The last time the S&P 500 posted nine consecutive days of gains was in November of 2004.
