The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs will play a three-game series beginning Friday.

These teams hold the best records in Major League Baseball; Detroit is 41-23 and Chicago is 39-23.

According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, standing room tickets are being sold for all three games at Comerica Park.

This highly anticipated series will feature 2024 American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal in game one, after he was scratched from his start versus the Chicago White Sox earlier this week.

Skubal, 28, has dominated MLB over the past couple of seasons. In 2024, the lefty ace went 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP in 31 starts.

This season, Skubal is 5-2 with a 2.26 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP in 12 starts. He could be on his way to his second consecutive Cy Young award.

Among left-handed starters, Skubal ranks fourth in MLB in ERA, third in strikeouts (99), first in WHIP and fourth in batting average against (.194), per MLB.

The Cubs offense has dominated both right-handers and left-handers but have done lots of damage against southpaws.

Chicago ranks fifth in MLB in batting average (.267), second in home runs (25), third in runs scored (100) and fifth in OPS (.795), per MLB.

Overall, the Cubs are second in batting average (.262), fifth in home runs (83), first in RBI (348), third in hits (565) and tied for second in stolen bases (82).

If both teams continue to dominate, we could be watching a preview of the 2025 World Series matchup.
