Just last week, Taylor Swift delighted and surprised fans by unexpectedly announcing the title of her 12th studio album: The Life of a Showgirl.

Last Wednesday, the singer-songwriter made her first appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce and revealed details surrounding the new release.

The album title was revealed in a teaser for the upcoming episode.

I wanted to show you guys something,” Taylor says, holding up a vinyl record—pulled from a briefcase marked with the initials “TS.”

The 12 track album gets a global release on October 3.

Swift and the movies

Swift appears also set to direct a feature-length film. In December 2022, it was announced that Searchlight Pictures, the studio behind films like Nomadland and The Shape of Water, had picked up an original script written by Swift.

While details about the movie’s plot and cast are still unknown, recent reports suggest that the script is getting a rewrite from British playwright Alice Birch, who has previously worked on shows like Succession and Normal People. This is considered a standard practice in Hollywood and doesn’t indicate a lack of faith in Swift’s vision.

This will be Swift’s feature directorial debut, though she has an extensive background in directing. She has directed many of her own music videos and the acclaimed short film, All Too Well: The Short Film (2021), which earned her a Grammy Award.
