Sony Picture Animation has developed a reputation as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking studios of its kind. SPA was also behind the much-loved ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’.

The co-director of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunter’, Maggie Kang, has a deep back catalog in animation and has previously worked in the story departments at DreamWorks, Blue Sky and Illumination. For the new film she teams up with Chris Appelhans, an illustrator, production designer, and film director who wrote and directed ‘Wish Dragon’.

The latest offering plays into the popularity of K-Pop and the intense fandoms that the bands and individuals inspire. South Korean boy band BTS had a four-night sell-out run at SoFi Stadium and could have sold countless more tickets, highlighting the incredible sway that the genre has over culture.
