Hundreds of thousands of people attended a state funeral in Tehran on Saturday for top Iranian commanders as well as nuclear scientists killed in the war with Israel.

According to the Associated Press, the caskets for the Iran Revolutionary Guard’s chief Gen. Hossein Salami, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the ballistic missile program, and other top commanders were on trucks that were driven along the capital’s Azadi Street.

The AP reported that the crowds chanted, “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”

State media in Iran reported that more than 1 million attended the funeral but the AP was not able to verify the claim.

Israel’s strikes were launched to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program. Military commanders, scientists and nuclear sites were targeted.
