The Detroit Tigers currently own the best record in the American League. They have a seven-game lead over the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.

They could be a very aggressive team this year at the trade deadline as they look to address certain needs. They could use another bat to bolster their lineup.

There will be plenty of bats available this summer for Detroit to choose from. But it’s clear that the Tigers are a legitimate threat.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic believes a reunion with Eugenio Suarez is a possibility.

“The Tigers are for real. They’ll be aggressive at the trade deadline to bolster their bullpen and lengthen their lineup, with a power-hitting third baseman being their biggest need. Like the Mariners, a reunion with the Diamondbacks’ Suárez could be the best fit,” Bowden writes.

Suarez is hitting .233/.305/.514 with 19 home runs, 52 RBI, an .819 OPS and a 124 OPS+ this season with Arizona.

The former All-Star actually began his career with the Tigers back in 2014 and hit four home runs that season. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds the following offseason.

Suarez, 33, brings power from the right side of the plate and would give Detroit a power-hitting third baseman. They were in the mix for Alex Bregman until the Boston Red Sox won the sweepstakes.

The Tigers are in a good spot in the AL Central, but a big bat is needed for them to run away with the division and lock up their spot in the postseason.

We’ll see if Suarez ends up being an option for them.
