Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday announced that the Trump administration made 189 arrests in Washington, D.C. this week, after President Donald Trump federalized the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Trump on Monday authorized a massive crackdown on crime in the capital district, which included the deployment of 800 D.C. National Guard troops, federal law enforcement officers and the federalization of the MPD.

Bondi said the majority of the arrests were done by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, but 39 arrests were allegedly related to illegal firearms.

The attorney general said other arrests included two homicide suspects, 17 alleged drug traffickers, and two alleged sexual predators. ICE arrested 75 people for immigration-related offenses.

“This is what happens when you actually enforce the law,” Bondi posted on X. “We’re taking back our Nation’s Capital! Together, we will make D.C. Beautiful & Safe Again.”
