President Trump announced on Saturday that he plans to hold a news conference at the White House about the violence in Washington, D.C. amid his threat of a federal takeover of the nation’s capital.

“On Monday a Press Conference will be held at the White House which will, essentially, stop violent crime in Washington, D.C. It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World. It will soon be one of the safest!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump reiterated his threat to federalize Washington, D.C. this week after a Department of Government Efficiency staffer was beaten up in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.
