Trump demands Fed governor resign over mortgage fraud allegations

President Donald Trump on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook as Attorney General Pam Bondi mulls a probe into possible mortgage fraud.

“Cook must resign, now!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Cook is facing federal scrutiny over a pair of mortgages that Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte has suggested may have been obtained via fraudulent means.

Pulte, this month, alerted Bondi to the issue alleging that Cook “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, potentially committing mortgage fraud under the criminal statute,” Bloomberg News reported.

Alleged mortgage fraud has become a focal point for Department of Justice inquiries into Democratic officials, with Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and New York Attorney General Letitia James both facing scrutiny over their purchases.
