President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested he may visit the Middle East in the coming days as negotiations to end the ongoing war in Gaza progress.

“I may go there sometime toward the end of the week,” he said at the start of an unrelated event. “Negotiations are going along very well.”

Trump made the remarks after previously announcing his plan to end the conflict, which would require a transitional government in Gaza and its eventual takeover by the Palestinian Authority.

He further expressed optimism about the prospects of the peace deal succeeding.
