Trump says the US took out three Venezuelan boats instead of two

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. has taken out three Venezuelan boats that were smuggling drugs, one more than previously reported.

“We knocked off actually three boats, not two,” Trump told reporters outside the White House, as he was departing for his trip to the United Kingdom, according to Newsmax. “But you saw two. The problem is there are very few boats out on the water … I can’t imagine why, not even fishing boats.”

Earlier this week, Trump announced that the U.S. military hit a Venezuelan boat, likely in the Carribean, that was carrying drugs from the Latin American country. The three individuals on the ship were killed.

The Trump administration announced two weeks ago, then Monday that a boat had been destroyed in each instance, a video release in connection with Monday’s strike show a flatboat erupting in fire, likely in the Carribean.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Monday accused the U.S. on Monday of starting “aggression” against his country.

Trump said Tuesday that Venezuela has to “stop sending drugs into the United States.”

He also accused the country of sending members of the gang, Tren de Aragua, to the U.S.
