Trump slams Mamdani’s victory in NYC’s Democratic primary: ‘This is getting a little ridiculous’

President Donald Trump on Wednesday slammed Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani’s unexpected victory in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary late Tuesday night, claiming “Democrats have crossed the line” by electing him.

Mamdani is the presumptive Democratic nominee after his biggest challenger, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, appeared to concede the election after finishing in second place at the end of the first round of ballots. New York City Comptroller Brad Lander finished in third.

Cuomo had been the favorite leading into the primary, but Mamdani scored critical endorsements from influential lawmakers, including New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

“He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him,” he continued. “Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!”

Trump suggested in a subsequent post that Democrats should nominate controversial and inflammatory Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett for president in 2028, and Ocasio-Cortez for vice president as a way to bring the party “back into ‘play'” after 2024.

“Together with our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, and our Country is really SCREWED,” he said.

Incumbent New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, also slammed Mamdani’s victory, claiming he is a “snake oil salesman” who is “saying anything to get elected.” Adams is running for reelection as an independent.
