Trump tariffs on ‘heavy duty trucks’ to take effect Nov. 1

President Donald Trump on Monday announced that tariffs would take effect on “heavy duty trucks” entering the United States, beginning on Nov. 1.

“Beginning November 1st, 2025, all Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks coming into the United States from other Countries will be Tariffed at the Rate of 25%. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he posted on Truth Social.

The move follows Trump signing an executive order requiring that truckers be able to speak English after a series of high-profile driving accidents involving foreigners with commercial driver’s licenses made headlines.

In early August, for instance, an illegal immigrant truck driver named Harjinder Singh went viral after he allegedly attempted to make an illegal U-turn on the Florida Turnpike, resulting in three fatalities.
