President Donald Trump on Thursday urged the nations of the Middle East to join the Abraham Accords in the wake of Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
“Now that the nuclear arsenal being ‘created’ by Iran has been totally OBLITERATED, it is very important to me that all Middle Eastern Countries join the Abraham Accords,” he posted on Truth Social. “This will insure PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The move comes as Israel continues to face intense international scrutiny for its occupation of Gaza. Trump has attempted to broker an end to the fighting and secured an initial ceasefire at the start of the year, though that fell through.
The Abraham Accords were a diplomatic arrangement from Trump’s first term that saw a number of Islamic nations normalize ties with Israel. Several major players in the region, such as Saudi Arabia, however, have yet to sign on.
