President Donald Trump on Wednesday said it was “imperative” that CNN be sold to new owners ahead of an expected merger between parent company Warner Bros. and either Netflix or Paramount.
“I think CNN should be sold, because I think the people running CNN right now are either corrupt or incompetent,” he added, according to The Hill.Â
“Any deal it should be guaranteed and certain that CNN is part of it or sold separately,” Trump went on referencing the merger. Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the White House.
Netflix announced a $72 billion deal to purchase Warner Bros last week, with Paramount announcing its own takeover bid days later.
