John Stamos is an actor, musician, and producer best known for playing Uncle Jesse Katsopolis on the hit sitcom Full House (1987–1995) — and later in Fuller House (2016–2020).
In his role as Uncle Jesse, he played a charming, Elvis-loving, motorcycle-riding musician with a rebellious streak and a heart of gold who helped his brother-in-law, Danny Tanner, raise three daughters after the death of their mother.
What is John Stamos up to now?
At 61 — yes, 61! — John Stamos has entered a new, more reflective phase of his career, one that he says is focused on music, family, and storytelling.
He’s back on stage with The Beach Boys, joining them as a special guest for select dates on their 2025 Sounds of Summer U.S. tour. It’s a fitting reunion — Stamos has performed with the band on and off for four decades.
He’s also stepping into musical theater, set to play King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl, replacing Josh Gad. It’s another reminder of his versatility as a performer, balancing acting and live music.
On screen, Stamos has leaned toward family-friendly roles that his seven-year-old son can enjoy. He recently voiced Howard Stark in Iron Man and His Awesome Friends and continues to take guest roles and voice work suited to younger audiences.
Away from Hollywood, he’s been promoting his memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, at book events and speaking engagements across the country — reflecting openly on fame, recovery, and fatherhood. He’s also active in charity work and recently made headlines for selling his longtime California estate.
Stamos says being a father has changed his priorities, steering him toward projects that feel more meaningful. As he put it in a recent interview, “I still love performing — I just see it differently now.”
Stamos supporting Coulier
John Stamos has also been publicly supporting his longtime Full House co-star Dave Coulier, who was diagnosed in late 2024 with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Stamos revealed Coulier is “doing great” and that they have upcoming joint appearances, including a Comic Con event in Japan. During Coulier’s treatment, Stamos notably wore a bald cap in solidarity with his friend and has spoken openly about how much the illness has tested their bond.
