Many actors have passed through the film industry, but few are remembered by global audiences today. Some, however, are still recognized for a single unforgettable role – like Neve Campbell.

The Canadian actress had no trouble winning over the U.S. entertainment industry. By 1994, she was already a household name thanks to her role as Julia Salinger in Party of Five, the hit series that also launched the careers of Matthew Fox and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Her career had started a few years earlier on the small screen, first appearing in a Coca-Cola commercial in 1991 and moving on to teen dramas like Catwalk.

Campbell played Julia Salinger until the year 2000, appearing in 150 episodes. During that time, she also made a name for herself in film, starring in The Craft, Wild Things, and most notably, the Scream franchise.

It was the Scream films that truly cemented her status in Hollywood. Starting in 1996, she played Sidney Prescott – the franchise’s main character – returning for sequels in 1997, 2000, and 2011. The films turned her into a pop culture icon of the horror genre.

After a golden era, Campbell took on a few roles in the early 2000s that didn’t gain much traction, prompting her to step back from the Hollywood spotlight. Still, she returned to television toward the end of the decade, with roles in Medium, The Philanthropist, and Titanic: Blood and Steel, appearing in six of the 12 episodes of the latter.

She later joined House of Cards, acting alongside Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, and shifted into action with Dwayne Johnson in Skyscraper and the indie drama Castle in the Ground, all while continuing to reprise her role in the Screamseries.

What is Neve Campbell doing now?

For fans who’ve lost track of her in recent years, there’s good news: Neve Campbell is set to return as Sidney in Scream 7, due out in 2026. The beloved scream queen is coming home – and it’s shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest horror releases.
